A Tribute to the Past

TISSOT PRX Digital

Taking inspiration from a historical Tissot model from the late ‘70s disco craze, the newly launched PRX Digital is a young- at-heart piece with on-trend retro-aesthetics. An authentic blast from the past, revisited in a modern way. This creation is a daring fusion between the timeless PRX design and the Digital Quartz (with a 4012 Calibre), launched in 1977. This is not only a tribute to a golden era; it's a proclamation of a future yet to dawn.

All models feature a textured dial and are powered by the energy of the person who wears it. Wrist movement enables the mechanism to run. The Powermatic 80 movement boasts 80 hours of power reserve, which is enough to continue telling time accurately even if the watch is not worn for three days.

Here's how to wind a Tissot PRX with automatic movement:
1. Unscrew the Crown:
On most Tissot PRX models, the crown is the small knob on the side of the watch case. Gently unscrew the crown in a counterclockwise direction until it is in the winding position. This is usually the first position you can pull the crown out to.
2. Pull the Crown Out to the Winding Position:
Once the crown is unscrewed, gently pull it out to the winding position. This is usually the second position of the crown.
3. Wind the Watch:
With the crown in the winding position, rotate it in a clockwise direction (toward the 12 o'clock position) for about 20-30 full turns. This will wind the mainspring and start the movement of the watch. Be sure not to overwind the watch; when you feel resistance, stop winding.
4. Set the Time:
If your watch also stopped because the time was not set correctly, adjust the time by pulling the crown out to the time-setting position (usually the third position) and turning it to set the correct time.
5. Push the Crown Back In:
After winding and/or setting the time, gently push the crown back to its original position against the case.
6. Screw the Crown Back In: Tokyo
If your Tissot PRX has a screw-down crown (some models do), make sure to screw the crown back in tightly to maintain water resistance.
7. Wear the Watch:
Once you have wound and set the watch, put it on your wrist and wear it regularly to keep it running. The motion of your wrist will continue to power the watch's movement.

Please note that the winding process may vary slightly depending on the specific Tissot PRX model you have, so it's always a good idea to consult your watch's user manual for model-specific instructions. If you're unsure about any aspect of winding your watch, consider visiting a Tissot service center or a qualified watchmaker for assistance.
The Tissot PRX is a dressy sports watch that can be worn in formal or casual settings. It has a polished bezel that offers a classy touch, and it is thin enough to slide under a shirt cuff or a coat. However, it is not suitable for very formal occasions, such as white tie events. The blue dial version may be more sporty than the other versions.
